Fernweh is a German word, meaning a longing for far-off places, something I have always felt, from my earliest memories and studies of the known world. I’ve always marveled at the idea I could travel to worlds familiar enough to recognize them as Earth, but different enough to imagine I was on another planet. We’ve adopted the word, Fernweh, to represent our travel and film photography workshop, emphasizing techniques for telling raw, human stories on film in the modern, digital world. Learn how to capture world-class images and document human stories in a way that honors both culture and individuals, and paints a compelling and thoughtful composition of the human experience. Be prepared to interact with locals in an authentic, organic way, while adapting to the excitement and chaos of India. Expect to fall in love with locals in the countryside of remote Rajasthani villages or Holy Men on the banks of the Ganges, and be prepared to taste exotic foods and an endless supply of masala tea. Jacob’s process for travel and lifestyle photography has been developed over the past five years by photographing and documenting stories in nearly forty countries. Learn how to publish images and develop a travel portfolio that will give greater depth and maturity to your client, wedding, and editorial work.
